Tiplap Tool Lapping Machine

Tiplap Tool Lapping Machine

Tiplap Tool Lapping Machine

The Tiplap tool machine, designed to compliment our Spacemaker and HSS range of boring tools.

Designed to enable tools to be reground accurately by most machine shop employees - it has proven to be invaluable wherever it has been installed.

It is widely accepted that accurate edge preparation is the key to the success of any cutting tool.

The Tiplap will offer the operator the ability to manufacture or simply re-sharpen a wide variety of cutting tools, ensuring a high degree of accuracy to the tool edges.

The Tiplap utilises a narrow Diamond wheel and by passing the tool across this face, an accurate tool edge will be 'generated'.

Fitted with a Standard Turret, the Tiplap can re-sharpen the majority of Boring and Turning tools without any additional attachments. Swiss-style Boring tools and 'L' type tools however, require additional attachments for accurate results.

A variety of Diamond and C.B.N. wheels are also available for the Tiplap allowing the operator to select the most suitable wheel for the application, from a course roughing to a fine polishing wheel, as they are easily interchanged.

By utilising the Drill Point attachment it is possible to re-sharpen Tungsten Carbide and H.S.S. twist drills.

This furthermore extends the capability of a truly versatile tool lapping machine.

The Tiplap can also be tailored to customers own design, where necessary.

Spacegauge Tool Pre-setting Instrument

Spacegauge Tool

Spacegauge Tool

The Spacemaker tool is a gauged instrument designed to pre-set tools prior to machining, which produces accurate results.
(capacity: 0" - 6", 0 - 150mm, 6" - 12", 150 -300mm, 12" - 18", 300 - 450mm).

Also available is the Limpet Spacegauge, which is a compact tool pre-setter designed for horizontal / vertical applications.
(capacity: 0 - 2", 0 - 50mm).

The Spacegauge tool incorporates a gauge frame which is supported on a leaf spring arrangement, and which can be displaced from side to side through a limited distance.

This frame has two opposed gauging faces, which can be set apart by a distance equal to the diameter of the hole to be bored.

The Spacegauge is placed beneath the machine spindle, to which the tool has already been assembled, and the spindle is rotated by hand backwards, so that the tip of the tool contacts first one gauging face then the other. As a result, the gauge frame is displaced. First in one direction and then in the other, and the amount by which it is displaced is shown on a 0,0001 inch (or metric) dial indicator incorporated in the Spacegauge.

This indicator has a central zero, and when the tool has been adjusted radically so that equal displacements of the gauge frame are shown in each direction by the indicator. It follows that the tool is describing a radius equal to half the required diameter.

The Spacegauge also incorporates a magnetic base to locate on the machine table. It is supplied with a Starrett Micrometer assembly and all anvils are fitted with Tungsten Carbide faces for increased wear resistance.

The Spacegauge is a self contained unit, light and easy to handle. It can therefore be readily applied to the tool and removed when not required.

Spacegauges are supplied in a carrying case for transport and storage when not in use.
